Better than Star Wars? Better than Blade Runner? Better than Back to the Future? Better than Alien? Better than the Matrix? Better than 2001?
I don’t think so, even though I enjoyed the movie very much, but the reviewers at IMDB disagree.

There’s a few hundred thousand people out there making these rankings. Are they science fiction fans? Have they not seen any movies before 2010?
What do you think? Are they nuts, or just wowed by the most recent sf movie that didn’t suck?

I imagine that a large part of it is “cult of the new” and being more excited about the movie you just saw than the movies you saw years ago.
I suspect you’re right. Why can’t people be objective and rational, like machines…
