Teaching Recognition

I've had external recognition of my research efforts by landing some large grants this year, but professors also teach. At the University of Wyoming, we have a few ways to recognize good teaching. There are a few teaching awards given out every year. Student evaluations are another way, but far from perfect and not typically public. The Dean also interviews the "Arts and Sciences Outstanding Graduates" each year about their most positive experiences at the University, and notes publically which faculty get mentioned as superb teachers/mentors. I was pleasantly surprised to be on the list this year. Officially it's not a big thing -- it's not an award or such -- but being appreciated for your best professional and heartfelt efforts is always very nice. It's a big thing to me.
