Launch Pad Astronomy Workshop: Improving Science Literacy Through Words and Media
This is the astronomy workshop for writers that I was pushing last year with NASA (the original title was Fast Forward but we liked Launch Pad better). I got a lot of input from people that helped with the proposal, which was funded, and we're now in operation. The first workshop will be this summer, July 15-22, 2007, and we'll have at least three more (which is what our funding will cover). Since NASA is paying, the whole deal is essentially free, including lodging and some of the meals, and we should have a few thousand dollars left over to help cover travel for the biggest name writers and some female/minority writers, too.
