The Big Emptry

Astronomers find a hole in the universe - Yahoo! News

"Space is big. Really big..." as Douglas Adams once told us. And sometimes it's even bigger, as in this case. We know the universe is big and full of galaxies and dark matter and such, arranged like a giant cosmic web, or sponge. Understanding the details of the structure is fundamental to understanding how galaxies grew from primordial fluctuations in the first place. We've basically found a really big, empty bubble, which is as important as finding the concentrations of galaxies in so-called superclusters, but more difficult.
